Sindhi Leader Jameel Goro’s Death Sparks Mourning and Calls for Justice

The Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM) has announced ten days of mourning following the death of its central leader, Jameel Goro Sindhi. He passed away on August 25 at a trauma center in Karachi after being attacked on August 19 in Hyderabad.

JSFM Chairman Sohail Abro, along with other leaders like Zubair Sindhi, Amar Azadi, Farhan Sindhi, Hafeez Deshi, Mark Sindhu, and Hoshu Sindhi, condemned the attack. They compared it to the assassination of Shafi Muhammad Karnani, describing both as part of a pattern of state-sponsored violence against Sindhi nationalists.

Jameel Goro Sindhi was a prominent figure in the JSFM, actively participating in protests and rallies on issues such as missing persons, forced conversions of Sindhi Hindu girls, the unity of Sindh, and the protection of Karoonjhar Mountain. His leadership, especially during the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances last year, reportedly put him on the radar of state authorities.

JSFM leaders stated that they know who is responsible for Goro Sindhi’s death but are withholding accusations against specific political parties to avoid jeopardizing national interests. They warned that protecting the perpetrators would have serious consequences.

Chairman Sohail Abro called on all freedom-oriented organizations in Sindh to unite in seeking justice for Jameel Goro Sindhi and to file a murder case in his name. The JSFM remains committed to honoring his memory and continuing the struggle for Sindhi rights.
