Siliguri Police Boosts Security for Durga Puja Celebrations

The Siliguri Metropolitan Police (SMP) in West Bengal is enhancing security measures across the city in preparation for the upcoming Durga Puja festivities. Authorities are taking extra precautions to ensure safety and prevent any incidents during the celebrations.

Security Measures and Coordination

Commissioner of Police, C Sudhakar, announced that 2,000 police personnel have been deployed to oversee the seven major puja events, six of which are licensed. Special teams, including an anti-crime unit and two Pink Nobel teams for women’s safety, are in place. Drones will be used for surveillance, capturing images and videos of the events.

Collaboration with Security Forces

Given Siliguri’s proximity to the international border, the SMP has coordinated with the Border Security Force (BSF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to ensure border security. Security cameras have been installed at key locations, and assistance booths are available for public support.

Commitment to Safety

The police are committed to ensuring a smooth and safe celebration for all, with quick response teams ready to handle emergencies. The SMP’s efforts aim to make this year’s Durga Puja a grand and secure event for everyone involved.
