The Shyamala Gopalan Education Foundation in Khammam, Telangana, celebrated US President Joe Biden’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee. The foundation, named after Harris’s mother, Shyamala Gopalan, held a grand celebration in Basavatharaka colony, Palvancha mandal.
Foundation founder Nalla Suresh Reddy wished Harris success in the 2024 elections, saying, “Today, we have celebrated her nomination, as agreed by President Joe Biden. And we wish her all the best for upcoming elections in 2024 and we wish her all the best and very good luck.”
On Sunday, Biden announced his decision not to seek re-election, endorsing Harris as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee. He urged Democrats to unite and defeat Republican candidate Donald Trump. Biden praised Harris, calling his decision to choose her as Vice President in 2020 the best he has made.
Harris expressed her gratitude for Biden’s endorsement and her commitment to winning the nomination. She stated, “I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination. Over the past year, I have travelled across the country, talking with Americans about the clear choice in this momentous election. And that is what I will continue to do in the days and weeks ahead. I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party-and unite our nation–to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda.”
Harris also thanked Biden for his leadership and service, calling it a “profound honor” to serve as his Vice President. She recalled her friendship with Biden’s late son, Beau Biden, and praised Joe Biden’s honesty, integrity, and commitment to the American people.
