Shukur Samsak Urges Scandinavian Nations to Act Against Genocide in East Turkistan

Shukur Samsak, the interior minister of the East Turkistan Government in Exile (ETGE), has called on Scandinavian countries to urgently recognize and take action against the genocide inflicted by China in the East Turkistan region. He highlighted that these actions by Beijing have severely affected the Uyghur and Turkic populations.

In a post on X, Samsak stated, “The failure of Scandinavian nations to confront China’s ongoing genocide against Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples, and its occupation of East Turkistan, marks an unprecedented lapse in global ethical leadership and strategic foresight. This deliberate silence, despite overwhelming evidence and widespread international condemnation, signifies a monumental deviation from the core values of human rights and moral integrity that these nations have historically championed.”

He further mentioned that such inaction is not a mere diplomatic shortcoming but a “profound ethical betrayal” that tacitly endorses the systematic violence and oppression that millions of East Turkistan residents endure daily. “By not formally acknowledging and condemning these grave injustices, Scandinavian countries not only undermine their legacy as vanguards of human dignity but also embolden continued impunity,” he stated.

Samsak urged these nations to transcend conventional diplomacy and embrace an unprecedented level of moral and strategic boldness. “This includes a formal and unequivocal recognition of China’s ongoing genocide against Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples, as well as its occupation of East Turkistan. They must spearhead a groundbreaking international coalition, impose stringent sanctions against Chinese officials, and provide robust support for the East Turkistani struggle for #independence,” he stated.

Samsak added, “Such decisive actions will not only challenge the status quo but will also reassert Scandinavian leadership on the global stage. By aligning their foreign policy with the highest standards of justice and human dignity, these nations have the opportunity to set a transformative precedent for global ethical responsibility. This is not merely a call to action but a profound redefinition of what it means to lead in the defence of human rights and international justice, reshaping the global order and affirming a commitment to universal values that transcend national interests.”
