Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant Practice for India’s Second Test Against Bangladesh in Kanpur
Shubman Gill continued to fine-tune his approach against spinners ahead of India’s second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur, starting on Friday. During India’s practice session at Green Park, Gill practiced cover drives while Rishabh Pant tried his hand at spin bowling.
Gill was enthusiastic, saying, “Pakdna Jaddu (Jadeja) bhai bhar bhar ke drive maar raha hoon (I will hit a lot of drives),” in a video posted by BCCI on X. Pant managed to beat Gill once, and his reaction was, “Kya beat kara hai yaar (What a way to beat the batter).”
Other key players, including KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah, were also present during the nets session. Team India arrived in Kanpur on Tuesday.
Under new head coach Gautam Gambhir, India won the first Test in Chennai by 280 runs. Gill scored an unbeaten 119 in the second inning, forming a crucial 167-run partnership with Pant. Ravichandran Ashwin was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his 113-run knock and six-wicket haul, tying him with Shane Warne for the second-most five-wicket hauls in Test history.
