Shri Badrinath Dham Prepares for Winter Closure
In Badrinath, Uttarakhand, the sacred temple of Shri Badrinath Dham is preparing for its winter closure. On the fourth day of these preparations, a special offering called Kadhai Bhog was made at the Mata Lakshmi temple. This offering is part of the temple’s elaborate closing ceremony, which includes prayers for the safe return of Shri Badrinath to the sanctum sanctorum.
The temple’s doors are set to close for the winter season on Sunday evening. As the closure approaches, many devotees are visiting the temple, with over 7,000 pilgrims having come for darshan by Saturday. The shrine is beautifully decorated with flowers for the final ceremony of the year.
On Saturday afternoon, the Panch Puja was conducted, involving key temple priests such as Rawal Amarnath Namboodri, Dharmadhikari Radhakrishna Thapliyal, Vedpathi Ravindra Bhatt, Amit Bandolia, and Sudhir Dimri, the priest of the Lakshmi temple, along with Arvind Dimri. They performed the Kadhai Bhog offering and completed the necessary prayers.
The rituals aim to honor Mata Lakshmi and seek her blessings for a prosperous and safe journey for the deity during the winter months. The grand closure ceremony of Shri Badrinath Dham marks the temple’s annual winter break, after which it will remain closed until next spring.
