Shree Chandi Mata Mandir in Kishtwar Welcomes Over 50,000 Pilgrims
The Shree Chandi Mata Mandir in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, has seen over 50,000 pilgrims this year during the Shree Machail Mata Yatra, which began on July 25, 2024. This annual yatra is one of the most significant pilgrimages in the Jammu Division, second only to the Katra Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra.
On August 4, 2024, 8,535 pilgrims visited the shrine, pushing the total number of visitors past the 50,000 mark. Last year, over 200,000 pilgrims participated in the yatra.
The pilgrimage includes a holy mace (Chhari) procession from Jammu to Darbar, starting on August 17. The weather at Machail Bhawan is currently clear, ensuring a smooth experience for the devotees.
Authorities, including Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar and Deputy Commissioner Devansh Yadav, are working diligently to ensure comprehensive arrangements for the pilgrims. Facilities include langars offering meals, lodging at Yatri Bhawan Gulabgarh and Sapphire Guest House, and various tent accommodations near Chandi Mata Bhawan.
With the footfall expected to exceed 300,000 this year, Devansh Yadav has appealed to the pilgrims to follow guidelines. Enhancements to roads, water supply, footpaths, sanitation, security, chopper services, and online registration are in place to ensure a safe and pleasant journey.
The addition of a road up to Chashoti on the Gulabgarh to Machail axis has reduced the trekking distance to 3-4 hours. New bridges and repairs to existing infrastructure have been made to provide a safe and hassle-free experience for the pilgrims.
Yadav urged the pilgrims to visit the official Machail Yatra website for online registration and updated information regarding the yatra, including weather conditions, routes, and other facilities. Pilgrims are advised to carry their Aadhar cards and review the guidelines on the website.
