Shivraj Singh Chouhan Launches New Web Portal and Blog for Farmers

Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has introduced a new web portal to speed up the bank settlements of interest subvention claims under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF). This portal, developed in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare (DA&FW) and NABARD, aims to automate and expedite the process, ensuring claims are settled within a day instead of months.

Chouhan emphasized that the PM Modi government is dedicated to increasing farmers’ income through various measures. The AIF, launched in 2020 with Rs 1 lakh crore funding, aims to enhance storage capacity and reduce crop losses. The scheme offers a 3% interest subvention on loans up to Rs 2 crore for seven years and reimburses credit guarantee fees paid by banks.

So far, Rs 72,000 crore has been mobilized, with Rs 43,000 crore sanctioned for 67,871 projects under the AIF. The new automated system will help calculate accurate interest subvention, reducing human error and speeding up claim settlements.

Additionally, Chouhan launched ‘Krishi Katha,’ a blog platform to amplify the voices and success stories of Indian farmers. This initiative aims to raise awareness, facilitate knowledge exchange, and empower the farming community by sharing their experiences and insights.
