Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, announced that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research has developed 109 new seed varieties that can adapt to changing climates and yield well even in higher temperatures. These efforts aim to ensure that the benefits of science and research directly reach farmers.

Importance of Good-Quality Seeds

Chouhan emphasized the importance of good-quality seeds in increasing production and reducing costs. He noted that under the leadership of PM Modi, the government is working on six key parameters to address climate change and agricultural productivity.

Reducing Pesticide Use

Chouhan highlighted that Indian scientists have developed high-yielding varieties, including rice that requires 30% less water, to increase production while reducing pesticide use.

On Sunday at 11 AM, PM Modi will release these 109 seed varieties after interacting with farmers. The release will cover 61 crops, including 34 field crops and 27 horticultural crops.
