Shiv Sena Leader Shaina NC Condemns Arvind Sawant’s ‘Imported Maal’ Remark
In Mumbai, Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC expressed strong disapproval of a comment made by Arvind Sawant, a leader from the Shiv Sena faction led by Uddhav Thackeray. Sawant allegedly referred to Shaina as ‘imported maal,’ which Shaina condemned as objectifying and disrespectful to women.
Shaina NC filed a complaint at Nagpada Police Station, leading to an FIR under Sections 79 and 356(2) for outraging the modesty of women. The Election Commission and Women Commission have also taken notice of the incident.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde criticized Sawant’s remarks, stating that if Balasaheb Thackeray were alive, he would have condemned such behavior. Shinde emphasized that disrespecting women is unacceptable and predicted that women would respond in the upcoming elections.
Arvind Sawant later claimed he did not mention Shaina’s name and accused his opponents of defaming him. He insisted on his respect for women and described Shaina as a friend.
The Maharashtra Assembly election is scheduled for November 20, with results expected on November 23.
