Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi Launches JOTA-JOTI in Ras Al Khaimah
In Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation and Honorary President of the Ras Al Khaimah Scout Commission, inaugurated the Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) and Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI) at the Zayed Educational Complex. This event is the world’s largest digital and radio Scout gathering, promoting friendship and global citizenship.
Organized under the theme “Scouts for a Greener World,” the event was a collaboration between the Emirates Scout Association, the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM), the Ministry of Education, Emirates Amateur Radio Society, and the Ras Al Khaimah Scouting Commission. It attracted 200 scouts and guides, along with 5000 online participants.
Sheikh Salem praised the global scouting camp, highlighting it as a unique opportunity for youth to learn about different cultures by interacting with peers worldwide. Salem Abdul Rahman Al Darmaki, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Scouts Association, emphasized that JOTA-JOTI is the largest digital Scout event, connecting over 2 million scouts from 174 countries each October.
Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) is an annual event that uses amateur radio to connect scouts globally, held on the third full weekend of October, alongside Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI).
