Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed Leads Abu Dhabi’s Tech Future
On October 18, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, chaired a meeting of the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC). During this meeting, he approved plans for three new ventures under ATRC’s VentureOne. These projects focus on quantum data security, smart autonomous mobility, and robotics-driven agritech, all set to launch later this year.
The initiatives align with Abu Dhabi’s economic priorities, aiming to transform advanced research into practical applications. The council reviewed its five-year strategic vision, assessing progress in research fields and approving the budget plan to reinforce Abu Dhabi’s position as a hub for innovation.
Sheikh Khaled emphasized the importance of technological advancements in line with the UAE’s National Innovation Strategy. He highlighted the role of research and innovation in building a knowledge-based economy and enhancing the UAE’s global competitiveness.
Over the next five years, the focus will be on developing national talent in sectors like AI, autonomous systems, quantum technologies, and clean energy. The council discussed R&D priorities, including AI-driven solutions in transport, energy, and healthcare, and investing in quantum technologies and radar systems.
The meeting also addressed clean energy research to support the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 agenda and biotechnology to tackle food security challenges. The council aims to nurture a skilled workforce in STEM fields to maintain the UAE’s leadership in technology.
Faisal Abdulaziz Al Bannai presented the budget proposal, emphasizing public-private partnerships and global collaborations. The meeting was attended by key figures like Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei and Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak.
