Jammu and Kashmir’s New Government Formation

In Jammu and Kashmir, the central government has revoked Presidential rule, paving the way for a new government. National Conference leader Sheikh Bashir Ahmad expressed that the people are pleased with this development but emphasized the demand for the restoration of statehood. Ahmad assured that a resolution for statehood will be prioritized in the first cabinet meeting.

Commitment to Statehood

Ahmad stated, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir are happy that President’s Rule has been removed and a new government is going to be formed here in 1-2 days. The demand of the people of J&K is the restoration of statehood, this should be the priority.” He urged the BJP to restore statehood if they care for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Steps Towards Government Formation

The revocation of President’s rule follows the recent assembly elections. National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah met with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to stake a claim for forming the government. Abdullah mentioned that the swearing-in ceremony might occur on October 15 or 16, as paperwork is being finalized.
