Shehzad Poonawalla Criticizes Uddhav Thackeray and Congress in Maharashtra Politics

In New Delhi, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, highlighting changes since Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray’s alliance with BJP. Poonawalla noted that previously, ticket decisions were made from Matoshree, and Shiv Sena (UBT) contested more seats. Now, Thackeray is not the Chief Ministerial face, and Congress and NCP-SCP have limited his seats to 100.

Poonawalla also mocked Congress, calling it a ‘Kaccha Nimboo’ in the MVA, suggesting its diminishing role. He remarked on Uddhav Thackeray’s alliance with those who criticized Savarkar and Hindutva, questioning the benefits Thackeray received.

Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole confirmed an agreement on seat sharing for the Maharashtra Assembly elections, with Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (Sharad Pawar) contesting 85 seats each. Patole mentioned an official announcement would follow soon. He emphasized the priority of bringing their government to power before deciding on the CM face.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut also confirmed the seat-sharing agreement. The nomination process for the 288 assembly seats has begun, with polling on November 20 and results on November 23. In the 2019 elections, BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, and Congress 44.
