Shehzad Poonawalla Criticizes Arvind Kejriwal Over Yamuna Pollution in Delhi

In New Delhi, as air pollution rises and toxic foam appears on the Yamuna River, Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla visited the Yamuna bank in Kalindi Kunj. He criticized the Aam Aadmi Party, led by Arvind Kejriwal, for the pollution, claiming their politics have poisoned the city’s air and water. Poonawalla challenged Kejriwal and his party to take a dip in the river, highlighting the unfulfilled promise to clean the Yamuna by 2025. He accused the AAP of misusing funds meant for river cleaning on advertisements and personal expenses.

Poonawalla also accused the AAP of playing a blame game, previously blaming stubble burning in Punjab for Delhi’s pollution. He questioned why Delhi has become a ‘gas chamber’ and challenged AAP leaders to swim in the Yamuna. Union Minister Harsh Malhotra also criticized the AAP, stating that the oxygen level in the Yamuna is zero and alleging corruption in the use of Rs 3000 crore allocated for cleaning the river. The Air Quality Index in Delhi has dropped to 297, categorized as ‘Poor’, which can cause breathing discomfort on prolonged exposure.
