Fazlur Rehman is working to gain support from former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s PTI before the amendments are tabled. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed optimism that Rehman would persuade PTI to back the amendments, noting that PTI’s concerns have been addressed. However, PTI Chairperson Barrister Gohar Khan stated that the party awaits clear instructions from Imran Khan and will not support the amendments without them.
PTI’s Stance on the Amendments
PTI has been vocal against the proposed 26th amendment, which they claim undermines the judiciary’s powers. The party insists on following Imran Khan’s directives and has indicated that two of its senators, Zarqa Taimur and Faisal Saleem, might vote against the party’s policy.
