It was a challenging day for Indian para-archers at the Paris Paralympics. Sheetal Devi and Sarita both exited the women’s individual compound open archery event. Sheetal, who had set a new world record in the qualification round by scoring 703 points, lost to Chile’s Zuniga Mariana by a narrow margin of 137-138. Sarita also faced a tough match, losing to Turkey’s Oznur Cure in the quarterfinals with a score of 140-145.

Avani Lekhara Shines in Shooting

On a brighter note, Avani Lekhara, the reigning Paralympic champion, won gold in the women’s 10m air rifle final. She achieved her personal best with 249.7 points. South Korea’s Yunri Lee took silver with 246.8 points, and India’s Mona Agarwal won bronze with 228.7 points.

India’s success continued in shooting, with Manish Narwal earning a silver medal in the men’s P1 10m air pistol SH1 competition. Additionally, athlete Preethi Pal secured a bronze medal in the women’s T35 100m race, clocking her personal best time of 14.21 seconds.
