Shaukat Javed Mir Criticizes Government Policies in PoJK

In Muzaffarabad, Shaukat Javed Mir, a leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party Workers, has voiced strong criticism against recent government actions. He argues that the reduction in electricity prices and the bailout package have not benefited ordinary people. Mir stated, “There is no benefit for common people like us. Previously, they have not done anything to address the problems faced by the poor.” He emphasized that while traders gain from price cuts, the average citizen sees no real change.

Mir expressed frustration with the stagnant bureaucracy, noting the absence of political representation during protests for the bailout package. He said, “The bailout package has not benefitted anyone; the poor are still struggling to meet their basic necessities, even with changes in petroleum prices.” He urged the administration to focus on the needs of the economically vulnerable.

Residents in PoJK have long accused their authorities of economic exploitation, claiming they serve only to benefit Islamabad’s treasuries. The region faces historical, administrative, and socio-economic challenges that hinder development and affect residents’ quality of life.
