Sharjah Private Schools Show Big Improvement in Education Quality

The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) has announced the results of the second edition of the ‘Itqan’ programme for the 2023-2024 academic year. This programme aims to enhance the quality of education in private schools in Sharjah.

Programme Results

The performance of 63 private schools, representing 9 different curricula, was evaluated. These schools include 78,638 students out of 129 private schools in the Emirate. The results showed a significant improvement in school performance, with an 80% increase compared to evaluations from 2018 and 2019.

All private schools in the Emirate now provide ‘acceptable’ or better education, with 68% of schools offering ‘good’ or better education. This means 117 schools provide ‘acceptable’ or better education, and 79 schools offer ‘good’ or better education.

Impact on Students

The number of students receiving ‘good’ or better education has increased from 25,351 to 145,042, while those receiving ‘acceptable’ or less education decreased from 146,539 to 44,550. This improvement reflects the efforts of SPEA, Sharjah Education Academy, and other educational stakeholders.

Future Goals

The ‘Itqan’ programme aims to achieve ‘distinguished education’ by 2025. The current edition focused on schools not previously reviewed and those rated ‘acceptable’ or below in the first edition. The programme was implemented from January to March of the current academic year.

Leadership and Support

Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of SPEA, expressed pride in the programme’s results and the continuous development in Sharjah’s private schools. She credited the support and guidance of Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, for these achievements. Al Hashimi emphasized the importance of joint efforts from SPEA teams, school administrations, and parents in improving education quality.
