Sharad Pawar, the Chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SP), and his daughter, Member of Parliament Supriya Sule, visited Bopdev Ghat near Pune. They were informed about the investigation into the alleged rape of a 21-year-old woman by three individuals on October 3. Deputy Commissioner of Police S Raja briefed them on the case’s progress.

Sule expressed concern over the delay in arresting the suspects, calling it a “serious matter.” She criticized the state government for not recruiting enough police personnel, suggesting that this emboldens criminals. Despite forming over 60 teams and questioning more than 200 known criminals, the police have yet to identify the suspects. A reward of Rs 10 lakh has been announced for information leading to their capture.

Earlier, Sule joined a protest organized by opposition parties to address women’s safety and the increasing crime rate. She criticized the state government’s handling of law and order, citing the Bopdev Ghat incident as an example of the rising atrocities against women. Sule vowed to continue fighting for justice until the perpetrators are caught and punished.
