Para-athletes Sharad Kumar and Mariyappan Thangavelu clinched silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the men’s high jump T6 final at the Paris Paralympics. Sharad achieved a leap of 1.88m, while Mariyappan cleared 1.85m.

Sharad initially failed to clear 1.88m but succeeded on his second attempt, breaking the Paralympic record in the T42 category set by Mariyappan in Tokyo.

Despite his efforts, Mariyappan was unable to clear 1.88m in his third attempt and was ruled out of gold medal contention. Ezra Frech then bettered Sharad’s record with a leap of 1.91m and extended it further to 1.94m to claim the gold medal. Sharad attempted to clear 1.94m but was unsuccessful, securing the silver medal. Mariyappan secured the bronze with a leap of 1.85m, while Shailesh narrowly missed a podium finish.
