Shakib Al Hasan Fined for Throwing Ball at Mohammad Rizwan in Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test Match

Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was fined 10% of his match fee and received a demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi. The incident occurred when Shakib threw the ball at wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan in the 33rd over of Pakistan’s second innings.

According to the ICC, Shakib’s actions violated Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which prohibits throwing a ball or any other cricket equipment in an inappropriate or dangerous manner during an international match.

Despite the incident, Bangladesh secured a historic 10-wicket victory over Pakistan, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. The first Test had a delayed start due to a wet outfield but turned into an exciting contest by the fifth day.

Notable performances included centuries from Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel for Pakistan, and a strong showing from Mushfiqur Rahim and Shadnam Islam for Bangladesh. Rizwan’s unbeaten 171 was a highlight, although he ended the day with cramps. Pakistan declared their innings at 448/6, but Bangladesh responded strongly, with Rahim scoring 191 and Islam 93.

On the final day, Pakistan was bowled out for just 146, with Rizwan being the only player to offer resistance. Bangladesh’s spinners, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan, took four and three wickets respectively. Bangladesh needed just 30 runs to win, which they achieved in under seven overs without losing a wicket.

The second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh will begin on Friday in Rawalpindi.
