Shaheen Afridi May Miss Bangladesh Test Series for Birth of First Child

Shaheen Afridi, a star cricketer from Pakistan, might miss the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh due to the birth of his first child. Shaheen and his wife Ansha, who married last year, are expecting their first child.

Pakistan’s red-ball coach Jason Gillispie mentioned, “Shaheen can miss Bangladesh Test matches due to childbirth. We can give him [some] rest if he wants to stay with his wife till then.”

The couple’s Nikah ceremony was performed last year in February, and their wedding reception was held in September 2023.

Recently, Shaheen was in the news for a heated argument with batting coach Mohammad Yousuf during a training session. The argument occurred when Yousuf pointed out Shaheen’s no-balls, leading to a heated exchange. However, the issue was resolved quickly, and Shaheen apologized to Yousuf.

Pakistan’s next white-ball series will begin in November against Australia. Before that, they will engage in red-ball cricket in a two-match Test series against Bangladesh, starting on August 21.
