Shafali Verma Looks Up to Rohit Sharma for Powerplay Tips Ahead of Women’s T20 World Cup 2024
New Delhi [India], September 26: Indian women’s cricketer Shafali Verma has expressed her admiration for skipper Rohit Sharma’s powerplay batting style as she prepares for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. The Indian women’s team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, left for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday, with the tournament starting on October 3.
Shafali Verma, who has played five Tests, 26 ODIs, and 81 T20Is, has impressive statistics, including a Test century and ten T20I half-centuries. She praised Rohit Sharma in an interview with Star Sports, highlighting his effective use of the powerplay in limited-overs matches.
Rohit Sharma, who retired from T20Is after winning the T20 World Cup, has scored 4,231 runs in 159 T20Is and 10,866 runs in 265 ODIs. Shafali aims to replicate his powerplay strategy in the upcoming World Cup.
India’s recent performance has been mixed, with losses to Australia and England but victories against Bangladesh. The team also drew a series with South Africa and lost the Asia Cup final to Sri Lanka. India will start their T20 World Cup campaign against New Zealand on October 4 at the Dubai International Stadium, with warm-up matches against the West Indies and South Africa.
