Severe Floods in Assam: Brahmaputra River Overflows, Affecting Thousands
Assam is experiencing severe flooding due to heavy rains, causing the Brahmaputra River to overflow. Nearly 1.34 lakh people, including 33,760 children, across seven districts are affected. The worst-hit district is Cachar. The floods have submerged over 4,113 hectares of crops and affected 411 villages. Cyclone Remal has intensified the situation, and a red alert has been issued for early July. Over 11,000 people are in relief camps, and 32 lives have been lost.
