Tragic Wall Collapse in Datia, Madhya Pradesh

Incident Details

On September 12, early in the morning, a tragic incident occurred in the Khalkapura locality of Datia, Madhya Pradesh. An old wall of a ‘kutcha’ house collapsed due to continuous rainfall, leading to the death of seven people, including two children.

Rescue Efforts

Datia Collector Sandeep Makin confirmed the incident and explained that the wall gave way around 4 am due to heavy rainfall over two days. Nine members of a Vanshkar family were buried under the debris. Local residents quickly rescued two survivors, who were taken to a hospital for treatment.

However, the narrow 3-foot-wide pathway made it challenging for heavy machinery to reach the site. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was called in to assist with the rescue efforts. By 11:45 am, all seven bodies were recovered from the site.

Government Response

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his condolences and announced compensation of Rs 4 lakh each for the families of the deceased. He acknowledged the efforts of the SDRF and local administration in the rescue operations.

Current Status

The two survivors are currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
