Sergeant Jagmeet Singh’s Inspiring Journey from India to the Australian Air Force
New Delhi [India], August 12: Australian High Commissioner Philip Green praised Sergeant Jagmeet Singh for his inspiring journey from India to the Australian Air Force. Green highlighted that Australia is a modern and multicultural country, home to people of more than 300 ancestries. He said Singh’s journey is a wonderful example of India’s diversity and multiculturalism.
Sgt Jagmeet Singh moved to Australia in December 2006 and joined Defence Force Recruiting in January 2007. He believes he was the first to wear a turban in the Air Force and has since helped others understand how to wear it. Singh hopes his efforts have paved the way for future generations.
Representing the Australian Air Force in India on Indo-Pacific Endeavour 23 was a career highlight for Singh. He felt proud to return to his birth country, serving as a linguist and local guide, and helping to break down cultural and language barriers.
