Security Tightened on Jammu-Akhnoor Highway After Terrorist Attack
Security measures have been increased on the Jammu-Akhnoor highway following a terrorist attack in Kathua. Vehicles are being inspected, and the area is on high alert. The attack, which occurred on July 8, resulted in the deaths of five soldiers and injuries to eight others. It is believed to be part of ongoing attempts to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
The attack took place on the Machedi-KindliMalhar road, about 150 km from Kathua town. Officials suggest that the attackers used an old infiltration route along the international border. This incident happened during the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, which started on June 29 and will conclude on August 19. The pilgrimage is a challenging journey to a holy cave in the Kashmir Himalayas, undertaken by devotees of Lord Shiva.
