Security Forces Launch Search Operation in Udhampur, J&K After Fire Exchange with Terrorists
Security forces in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, have launched a search operation in the Khaneed Area of Basantgarh after an exchange of fire with terrorists. The operation began after receiving input about suspicious movements in the area.
Details of the Operation
According to DIG Udhampur Reasi Range Rayees Mohammad Bhat, the operation started after tracking terrorist movements for three to four days. Contact was established with a group of terrorists around 4:30 pm, and the search operation is ongoing. The group consists of three to four terrorists, and efforts are being made to neutralize them.
Challenges Faced
The area has hilly terrain and dense coniferous forests, making the operation challenging. The weather is also cloudy and rainy, limiting visibility.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai mentioned that there have been two terrorist attacks on pilgrims in the past five years, resulting in 14 casualties. The central government has implemented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the safety of pilgrims, with adequate security arrangements in place.
