An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists on Thursday in the village of Kog (Mandli) in Kathua district, Jammu division. According to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu, a joint search operation was launched based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists. Contact was established, and both sides exchanged fire. The area has been cordoned off, and further details are awaited.

Earlier, three army personnel and one police officer were injured in an encounter with terrorists in the Kulgam district. The condition of the injured personnel is stable. The encounter began in the Arigam area late Friday night when security forces received information about terrorist movements. The exchange of fire continued into Saturday morning. Kashmir Inspector General of Police (IGP) VK Birdi confirmed the ongoing operation, stating that more details will be available after its conclusion.

These developments come amid the ongoing assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, which are being held in three phases.
