Security Forces Achieve Major Success Against Naxals in Dantewada

In a significant operation against left-wing terrorism, security forces have successfully neutralized 31 Naxals in the Maad area on the Narayanpur-Dantewada border. This operation was a joint effort by the DRG Dantewada, DRG Narayanpur, and STF teams, following intelligence about a gathering of 40 to 50 Naxalites.

Details of the Operation

The operation commenced after security personnel surrounded the Naxals in the forest, leading to a heavy exchange of gunfire. Dantewada SP Gaurav Rai reported that 31 uniformed Naxals were killed, and a variety of automatic weapons were recovered. The operation was challenging due to difficult terrain and rain.

Statements from Officials

DIG Kamalochan Kashyap described the region as a safe haven for Naxals, with Company 6 being particularly active. He confirmed the recovery of heavy arms and ammunition. IG Bastar Sundarraj mentioned that further search operations are ongoing.

Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker and former Chief Minister Raman Singh praised the operation as a ‘huge success’ and credited the vision of Home Minister Amit Shah. He congratulated the Chief Minister, Home Minister, and the entire team for their efforts.
