New Delhi, India – The discussions between Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for sharing seats in the upcoming Haryana assembly elections have broken down. AAP has released its first list of 20 candidates, while Congress has already announced 41 candidates for the 90-member assembly.

Key Figures and Statements

Sushil Gupta, the Haryana chief of AAP, stated that they waited patiently before releasing their list. He emphasized that AAP remains a committed partner in the INDIA bloc at the national level. Gupta expressed confidence that BJP will be defeated in the polls.

Former Haryana Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda also expressed confidence in Congress’s victory, saying, “Congress aa rahi hain, BJP jaa rahi hain Haryana mein (Congress is coming, BJP is going).”

Union Minister and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, on the other hand, is confident of BJP’s victory, stating, “We know that this festival of democracy comes every five years. Nominations for Haryana Vidhan Sabha have begun. We have presented our first list of candidates. Whatever I have seen on the nominations, I can say that the Bharatiya Janata Party government is coming to power in Haryana for the third time.”

Candidate Announcements

Congress has fielded wrestler Vinesh Phogat from Julana and Brijendra Singh from Uchana Kalan. BJP has announced Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini from Ladwa and former state home minister Anil Vij from Ambala Cantt.

Aditya Chautala, a former BJP leader, has joined the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and will contest from Dabwali. He is the grandson of former Haryana Chief Minister Devi Lal.

Upcoming Elections

Voting for the 90-member legislative assembly in Haryana will be held on October 5, with the last date for filing nominations being September 12. Votes will be counted on October 8 along with those in Jammu and Kashmir.
