SDRF Rescues 10 People Trapped Near Robbers Cave in Dehradun

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rescued 10 youngsters who were stranded on an island near Robbers Cave in Dehradun. The rescue operation was initiated after the City Control Room (CCR) informed the SDRF about the trapped individuals. Sub-inspector Laxmi Rawat and the SDRF team quickly reached the site with necessary equipment and successfully brought the 10 people to safety by crossing the strong river currents using ropes.

Earlier, heavy rains had caused the usually dry Sukhi river to swell, leading to severe flooding in Haridwar. Numerous parked cars were washed away, and homes and major roads were flooded. On July 1, the SDRF conducted a relief operation in Haridwar, where they pulled out four vehicles that had been swept into the Ganga River due to the overflowing rain drain near Kharkhari. These vehicles were handed over to the district police.

The intense downpours caused the Ganga River’s water level to rise significantly, submerging roads and vehicles. Local authorities advised residents and visitors to avoid bathing in the river due to the hazardous conditions.
