Scuffle at Delhi University: ABVP and SFI Clash Over Controversial Remarks

A scuffle broke out late Saturday night at Delhi University (DU) between students from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the Students Federation of India (SFI). The incident occurred around 11:45 pm near the Swami Vivekananda statue on campus.

The ABVP accused SFI members of making controversial remarks against the Indian Army. According to sources, around 50 students, including some from outside DU, were involved in the scuffle. Aprajita, an ABVP member and Secretary of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU), stated that the disruption was unwelcome, especially during ongoing exams for the Law Faculty. She added that the noise disturbed students studying in a nearby library.

The ABVP criticized the remarks as anti-national and an insult to the Indian Army. They also accused SFI and other leftist groups of ignoring issues like women’s safety mishandling by the West Bengal government.

In response, the SFI accused the ABVP of spreading misinformation. They claimed their protest aimed to raise awareness about rape culture and violence against women. The SFI stated that they have always stood in solidarity with victims and survivors of sexual harassment and accused the ABVP-led DUSU of being silent on harassment issues faced by female students at DU.
