Saurabh Bharadwaj Suggests Opening PM and CM Residences to Public Amid BJP’s Videography Demand

Saurabh Bharadwaj Proposes Public Access to PM and CM Residences

Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj has suggested opening the residences of the Prime Minister and Chief Ministers to the public for a day. This proposal comes after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanded videography of the Chief Minister’s house in Delhi.

Background of the Proposal

BJP’s Delhi President, Virendra Sachdeva, highlighted that former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had not vacated the Sheesh Mahal bungalow at 6 Flagstaff Road, despite stepping down. Sachdeva accused Kejriwal of staging a drama by handing over the keys for the cameras, only for them to be retrieved later.

Details of the Controversy

The bungalow, not designated for the Chief Minister, is under the Public Works Department’s ownership. A vigilance investigation is ongoing regarding its reconstruction. Sachdeva emphasized that the bungalow should have been vacated and documented through videography, which was not done.

AAP’s Response

AAP stated that the keys were handed over to the new Chief Minister, Atishi, after a proper inspection and issuance of a vacation report. They accused BJP of misleading the public over a non-issue.

Current Developments

Arvind Kejriwal resigned as Chief Minister in September, and Atishi was sworn in as the new Chief Minister last month. The AAP confirmed that all dues related to the bungalow were cleared by Kejriwal before vacating.
