Saurabh Bharadwaj Criticizes PM Modi for Not Visiting Manipur Amid Violence
Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting Manipur, which has been experiencing ethnic violence since May 3 last year. Bharadwaj pointed out that PM Modi has time for international visits but not for domestic issues like Manipur and Hathras.
Earlier today, PM Modi left for a two-nation visit starting with Moscow, Russia, where he was invited by President Vladimir Putin to attend the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit.
Meanwhile, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, visited Imphal to meet victims of violence at relief camps. He arrived at Imphal airport this afternoon and is scheduled to meet Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey at 5.30 pm, followed by a press conference at the Manipur Congress office at 6.15 pm.
Rahul Gandhi visited the Jiribam Higher Secondary School relief camp and offered support to the victims. The Congress party’s official handle posted on X, highlighting Gandhi’s commitment to the people’s cause. He will also visit the relief camp at Sadbhavna Mandap in Tuibong, Churachandpur district.
The northeastern state has been witnessing ethnic violence since May 3 last year following clashes during a rally organized by the All Tribals Students Union (ATSU) to protest against the demand for the inclusion of the Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribe category.
