Satyendra Jain Released from Jail: AAP Leaders Celebrate

Satyendra Jain Released from Jail

On Friday evening, Satyendra Jain, a leader from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former minister of Delhi, was released from Tihar Jail. The Rouse Avenue Court granted him bail in a money laundering case. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, along with senior AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, welcomed Jain as he exited the jail.

Jain’s Remarks and Allegations

After his release, Jain humorously remarked that CM Atishi might also end up in jail, as many AAP leaders have been incarcerated. He accused the BJP of deliberately imprisoning him to halt his efforts in cleaning the River Yamuna, a project promised by Arvind Kejriwal.

Reactions from AAP Leaders

Delhi CM Atishi expressed joy over Jain’s release, declaring “Truth triumphed.” Manish Sisodia called Jain a hero, and sweets were distributed outside the jail. Sanjay Singh praised Jain for his contributions to Delhi’s healthcare, including the Mohalla Clinic model.

Legal Proceedings

Jain’s lawyer, Vivek Jain, stated that the court granted bail without special conditions, emphasizing Jain’s right to not be indefinitely incarcerated. Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in May 2022 and spent 873 days in jail, losing 36 kg during his imprisonment.

Political Implications

AAP leaders criticized the BJP for false allegations leading to their arrests. Gopal Rai claimed the party emerged stronger after Jain’s bail, thanking the court for its decision.
