Satyendra Jain Claims Yamuna Pollution Not From Delhi, BJP Protests

Yamuna River Pollution Debate

Satyendra Jain’s Statement

Aam Aadmi Party leader Satyendra Jain stated that the industrial waste polluting the Yamuna River does not originate from Delhi. He emphasized that Delhi has no water-polluting industries and claimed the waste comes from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Details of Pollution Sources

Jain explained that waste flows through the Badshahpur drain into the Najafgarh drain from Gurgaon, and from Sonipat into the Yamuna from the Narela side. He also mentioned that the Shahdara drain’s waste originates from Uttar Pradesh. Near Kalindi Kunj, a barrage managed by UP Jal Nigam has 12 gates, but only 2-3 are usually opened, leading to foam accumulation.

BJP’s Protest

On October 24, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva protested against the AAP-led Delhi government by taking a dip in the Yamuna River. He criticized the government for the rising pollution levels and accused them of making excuses instead of addressing the issue.

Lieutenant Governor’s Remarks

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena shared images of the toxic froth in the Yamuna and urged authorities to focus on providing relief to residents.
