Satya Prakash Sangwan to Lead India at Paris Paralympics 2024
Satya Prakash Sangwan, the vice-president of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), has been chosen as the Chef-De-Mission for the Indian team at the Paris Paralympics 2024. Sangwan aims for India to win 25-30 medals, including 8-10 gold medals.
The Paris Paralympics will start on August 28, following the Paris Olympics. Sangwan, who has over a decade of experience in the Paralympic movement, expressed his gratitude to PCI and the central government for his appointment. He noted India’s progress in the Paralympics, highlighting the 19 medals won at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
Sangwan credited PCI chief coach Satyanarayana for providing excellent equipment, facilities, and preparation for the athletes. As Chef de Mission, Sangwan will lead India’s largest-ever contingent of 84 para-athletes competing in 12 sports disciplines. His role will be crucial in ensuring the team has the support and guidance needed to excel on the global stage.
At the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, India won five gold medals, eight silver, and six bronze, totaling a record 19 medals.
