Saryu Roy Confident in Jharkhand Election Against Banna Gupta

Jharkhand Assembly Elections: Saryu Roy vs. Banna Gupta

In East Singhbhum, Jharkhand, Saryu Roy, a candidate from Janata Dal (United), is confident about winning the Jamshedpur West assembly seat in the upcoming state elections. Roy, who previously defeated former Chief Minister Raghubar Das as an independent in 2019, is now contesting against Congress candidate and Jharkhand minister Banna Gupta. Roy claims that Gupta, facing corruption charges, is being protected by the government.

Gupta, on the other hand, criticized the BJP and its election co-in-charge Himanta Biswa Sarma, likening him to a disposable ‘Chinese item’ and accusing him of not understanding tribal issues. Gupta also commented on the BJP-JD(U) alliance, comparing it to a snake and mouse seeking refuge together during a flood.

The elections in Jharkhand are scheduled for November 13 and 20, with 81 assembly seats up for grabs. The BJP is allied with the All Jharkhand Students Union, Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party, while the ruling alliance of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress is contesting with Rashtriya Janata Dal and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist).

Jharkhand has 2.60 crore eligible voters, including 11.84 lakh first-time voters and 66.84 lakh young voters.
