Sarfaraz Khan Praises Rohit Sharma Ahead of India vs Bangladesh Test Series
As the two-match Test series against Bangladesh approaches, Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan has praised team captain Rohit Sharma for his supportive and positive nature. Sarfaraz, who made his Test debut earlier this year against England, emphasized that Rohit treats everyone like an elder brother and never as juniors.
In his debut match, Sarfaraz scored 62 runs from 66 balls, and he has been called up for the upcoming Tests against Bangladesh. The series will start on September 19 in Chennai at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, with the second match beginning on September 27 in Kanpur.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir will be aiming for a series win in his first Test assignment. Sarfaraz shared his thoughts on Rohit Sharma during an interview with Jio Cinema, stating, “He’s very different, makes you comfortable and is like an elder brother to us. I enjoy playing with him. He never treats you like a junior. He’s a positive guy. The way he speaks, it boosts your confidence.”
Sarfaraz also compared Rohit to Aamir Khan’s character in the movie ‘Lagaan,’ saying, “Lagaan is my favourite movie. In that, the way Aamir Khan assembles his team, Rohit bhai reminds me of that. For me, he’s Lagaan’s Aamir Khan. It feels like he’s part of your family.”
Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the Test side, which includes pacers Akash Deep and Yash Dayal, who received their first call-ups, and dynamic wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, returning to Test cricket for the first time since his accident in December 2022.
