Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 20: Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan has praised star bowler Jasprit Bumrah, calling him ‘one of the best’ bowlers. Bumrah is currently playing in the Test series against Bangladesh, with the first Test taking place at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Speaking to Jio Cinema, Sarfaraz recalled Bumrah’s performance in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa, where Bumrah took crucial wickets to help India win. Sarfaraz said, ‘You saw his magic just a few months ago in the T20 World Cup Final when the game was slipping out of our hands, and he delivered by taking a crucial wicket. He’s done this so many times when the team is struggling. There’s no doubt he’s one of the best.’

In his Test career, Bumrah has taken 159 wickets in 37 matches, with an average of 20.69 and best bowling figures of 6/27. In home Tests, he has taken 33 wickets in nine matches, averaging 16.36 with best figures of 6/45.

In the ongoing Chennai Test, Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl. India’s top-order struggled, collapsing to 34/3. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal (56) and Rishabh Pant (39) formed a 62-run partnership, bringing India back into the game. Ravindra Jadeja (86*) and Ravichandran Ashwin (102*) then built an unbeaten 195-run partnership, ending the day at 339/6.

At stumps on day one, Ashwin remained unbeaten with 102 runs off 112 balls, including 10 fours and 2 sixes. Hasan Mahmud was the standout bowler for Bangladesh, taking 4 wickets for 58 runs, including the dismissals of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli.
