Saqr Ghobash and UAE Delegation Join Arab Group Meeting at IPU Assembly in Geneva
In Geneva, Switzerland, Saqr Ghobash, the Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), along with the UAE Parliamentary Division, participated in the Arab Group’s coordination meeting during the 149th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly. This event also included the 214th session of the Governing Council.
The meeting was attended by speakers from Gulf legislative councils and Arab parliaments. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Arab Group’s Representative in the IPU Executive Committee, shared a report on the outcomes of the 294th session of the IPU’s Executive and Financial Committees. He announced the approval of the IPU budget for 2025, which will increase by 3% due to higher annual contributions from member parliaments, as decided by the Governing Council for 2023-2026.
The report also highlighted voluntary contributions to the IPU’s budget, including a significant contribution of one million dollars from the Federal National Council to support programs against terrorism and extremism.
