National Space Day Celebration at Bharat Mandapam
An exciting exhibition took place at Bharat Mandapam to celebrate National Space Day. The event was marked by the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, who declared Sanjot Sanjay, a student from Yeshwant Rao College of Engineering in Nagpur, as the overall winner. Sanjay’s team won for their impressive rover project, which was part of the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Team Titans project.
Sanjot Sanjay’s Achievement
Sanjot Sanjay shared that his team built the rover in just eight months. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “We accepted ISRO’s challenge and built the rover in eight months. We are very pleased to have participated, as it has deepened our understanding of technology.” He also mentioned the hard work and guidance from their mentor and professors that helped them overcome challenges during the project.
Future Aspirations
Sanjay aspires to work with ISRO in the future and believes that this competition has provided valuable experience for his career. “This competition will allow us to apply our knowledge in our future careers. I aspire to work with ISRO, and I am grateful for the opportunity that has helped me achieve my goal,” he added.
ISRO’s Remarkable Achievement
Union Minister of State for the Department of Space, Dr Jitendra Singh, addressed the gathering and highlighted ISRO’s significant achievement of landing on the South Pole of the Moon. He stated, “A year ago, on August 23, 2023, our Chandrayaan-III mission became the first to land on the south side of the Moon. PM Modi announced that this day would be celebrated annually as National Space Day. The world did not expect us to achieve this milestone, given that our space journey is only 55 years old. Today, ISRO, within half a century, has become the first to land on the south side of the Moon, ahead of anyone else.”
Dr Jitendra Singh emphasized that National Space Day is a day for introspection, reflection, and planning for the future.
