Sanjay Verma Recounts Sword Attack by Khalistanis in Alberta

In a recent interview, Sanjay Verma, the recalled Indian High Commissioner to Canada, shared a frightening experience where he was attacked by Khalistani extremists in Alberta. Verma, accompanied by his wife, was nearly harmed by individuals wielding a sword, not a religious kirpan. The incident occurred during a business event attended by many Indo-Canadians and Canadian businessmen. Despite police presence, the attackers managed to get dangerously close to Verma.

Verma explained that the local police intervened and conducted an interrogation, though he was not informed of the outcome. He emphasized the difference between a sword and a kirpan, a distinction important to those familiar with Sikhism. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police provided protection to Verma and other Indian diplomats, acknowledging potential threats to their safety.

Verma expressed concern over the threats posed by Khalistani extremists to peace-loving Indo-Canadians, who face intimidation and vandalism of their places of worship. He called for a resolution to ensure the safety and normalcy for Indo-Canadians contributing to Canada’s growth.

Verma was recalled following allegations by Canada linking him to the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, which he denied. The diplomatic relations between India and Canada have deteriorated, with India rejecting Canada’s claims and accusing it of harboring anti-India elements.
