Sanjay Raut Accuses Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde of Offering Rs 50 Crore to MLAs

In Mumbai, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has made serious allegations against Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Raut claims that Shinde has promised Rs 50 crore to each MLA to secure election victories. During a press conference, Raut mentioned that Rs 15 crore was found in two vehicles, which he believes is the first installment of the promised amount.

Raut’s statement follows an incident where Pune Rural Police seized Rs 5 crore in cash at the Khed Shivapur toll booth. The cash was discovered during a routine check, and four individuals, including the driver, were questioned. The money has been handed over to the Income Tax Department for further investigation.

This controversy arises as Maharashtra gears up for its single-phase election on November 20, with results to be announced on November 23. The ruling Mahayuti alliance, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and Ajit Pawar-led NCP, is preparing for the elections against the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress.

In the previous 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena secured 56, and Congress won 44 seats. In 2014, the BJP won 122 seats, Shiv Sena secured 63, and Congress won 42 seats.
