Sanam Khan Arrested in Thane for Using Fake Documents to Get Passport
Sanam Khan, also known as Nagma Noor Maqsood, was arrested by the Vartak Nagar Police in Thane, Maharashtra. She was presented before the court and sent to two-day police custody.
On Wednesday, Thane Police filed a case against the 23-year-old woman for allegedly using fake documents to obtain a passport to travel to Pakistan. Sanam Khan explained that she changed her name in 2015 and married Bashir Ahmed in 2021 after meeting him on social media during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sanam stated, “I got my name changed in 2015. During the COVID time, in 2021, I got in contact with Bashir Ahmed, who is now my husband, through social media. We then decided to get married and our families got in touch with each other through video and voice calls. I got my passports made in 2023. After applying for a visa and clearing all legal documents, I got the visa. I’ve said that if an inquiry has to be done, it is fine. But I can’t go to the police station every time I come to India. I had made it clear that I had gone through the legal method.”
Deputy Commissioner Zone 05, Amar Singh Jadhav, stated that the police are carrying out a probe into the matter. More details on the matter are awaited, and further investigation is underway.
