Sammi Baloch Joins Baloch Yakjehti Committee

In Balochistan, Pakistan, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has welcomed Sammi Deen Baloch as a new member. Sammi is a well-known activist who has been fighting against enforced disappearances for 15 years. She is recognized globally for her efforts against what is termed as the ‘Baloch Genocide’.

Protests Against Enforced Disappearances

The BYC has been organizing protest rallies across Pakistan to oppose enforced disappearances by the Pakistan armed forces. Recently, Ubaidullah Tagapi was abducted, prompting his family to protest. However, the armed forces stopped the demonstrations and harassed the family.

In another case, Haseeb Baloch, a 22-year-old graduate from ARID University, was forcibly disappeared. A protest in Panjgur was met with violence from state authorities, who abducted some protestors. Haseeb has since been released but was hospitalized due to severe torture.

Ongoing Campaigns and Protests

Under the banner “Breaking Silence: Standing Against Enforced Disappearances,” the Baloch people are resisting state-sponsored crimes. Five peaceful protests have been organized in Balochistan, including in Karachi, Hub, Turbat, and Khuzdar. The BYC continues its campaign against enforced disappearances, which are seen as a tool to escalate the Baloch genocide.
