Samir Modi Seeks Court Help After Being Attacked at Godfrey Phillips Office
New Delhi, June 22, 2024 – Samir Modi, the executive director of Godfrey Phillips, was allegedly attacked by his mother Bina Modi’s Personal Security Officer (PSO) last month. The incident occurred when Samir tried to attend a board meeting at the Godfrey Phillips India (GPI) office. Samir has now approached the Saket District Court to monitor the investigation.
Preservation of Evidence
The court has directed the preservation of CCTV footage from the GPI offices on the day of the assault. Samir Modi had earlier filed a complaint stating that he was manhandled by the PSO and that the board members did not help him, suggesting they were part of a conspiracy.
Investigation Details
The investigating agency registered an FIR for grievous hurt and wrongful restraint on May 31, 2024. Samir’s lawyer, Vijay Aggarwal, argued that the court should monitor the investigation due to the serious threat to Samir’s well-being. He also requested the preservation of call records and the seizure of mobile phones of the accused.
Court’s Actions
The court issued a notice on June 21, 2024, directing the preservation of CCTV footage and summoned the investigating officer. The officer reported that CCTV footage from the GPI offices for one month has been seized and is under examination. The court has summoned the investigating officer again for the next hearing on June 27, 2024.
