Sambhaji Chhatrapati Criticizes Shivaji Maharaj Statue Inauguration by PM Modi

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 28: Former Member of Rajya Sabha, Sambhaji Chhatrapati, expressed his disappointment over the inauguration of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue. He stated that he had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting that the statue was not up to the mark and that proper protocols were not followed.

Sambhaji Chhatrapati said, “This is a very sad incident. When it was inaugurated on December 4, the Prime Minister had also come. On December 12, I wrote a letter to him that the statue that was erected was not up to the mark. And today after 7-8 months this happened. The protocols that should have been considered were not taken.”

He urged the government to maintain protocols and provide an explanation for the oversight. He also criticized the timing of the inauguration, suggesting it was done for political gain before the Lok Sabha elections.

Prahar Janshakti Paksh leader, Bacchu Kadu, commented on the issue, stating that people are not connected to the ideology of Shivaji Maharaj, which is causing problems. He emphasized that Shivaji Maharaj paid attention to every detail, unlike some people today.

The 35-foot statue was inaugurated in December 2023 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Navy Day. Following the statue’s collapse, local police filed an FIR against contractor Jaydeep Apte and structural consultant Chetan Patil under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray criticized the BJP, linking the incident to corruption and poor quality of work. He also accused the BJP of blaming the Indian Navy for the incident.
